U.S. Justice Department expands a federal prohibition on internet gambling

The U.S. now says the U.S. Wire Act bars all internet gambling that involves interstate transactions, reversing its position from 2011 that only sports betting was prohibited under the law passed 50 years earlier.

While the federal law specifically prohibits transmission of wagers and related information across state lines, the Justice Department’s new interpretation will impact all online gambling because as a practical matter it’s difficult to guarantee that no payments are routed through other states, said Aaron Swerdlow, an attorney with Glaser Weil Fink Howard Avchen & Shapiro LLP in Los Angeles.

In contrast to popular believe in some parts of the world there actually is life outside of the area that's being reigned by this expansion ...

So ... my free tip of the day would be: Buy the news! :curtsey:

They're based in Malta where gambling on and off the net is a big thing, originally from the Isle of Man where a lot of the big online gambling site are based, the teams experience is all from gambling sites outside of America; this news is a blip on the radar! To have CSC in american gambling sites would be great n all but like you said I don't think it was ever the main focus, considering gambling thrives with regulation elsewhere in the world

Yea, I just saw another news post about this. While on the surface it may seem a negative.

The way CasinoCoin is doing it, is so the regulates and the LAW  can see every transaction online.  (AML Visual Block Explorer)

Who knows how things will pan out.  They don't know about CSC yet and how it works. It maybe exactly what there looking for before making Online gambling legal in the US

Online gambling was illegal in most states when csc was conceived so no real loss, when they finally pull their finger out and allow it in all states, it'll be great for csc

Guns are fine but don't even think about placing a bet. America is a strange place.

How would I protect my winnings if we didn't own guns??!!! We trust people, but we're not Canada... #NationalComplimentDay    ..   lol

It's funny how you said it though it's true... Some things really don't make sense at all..

Can they prohibit stupidity too? If so they have a lot in the pipeline to work with . . . :beach:

That is a general comment not aimed at any CSC-chatter. Just a joke with some CSCeriousity in it.
